Beyoncé is getting into the bud business.
Specifically, the R&B queen and recent Harper’s Bazaar cover star is building a cannabis and hemp farm to obtain her own CBD.
“I discovered CBD on my last tour, and I’ve experienced its benefits for soreness and inflammation,” she said in the interview. “It helped with my restless nights and the agitation that comes from not being able to fall asleep.”
The relief from the non-psychoactive part of the cannabis plant helped King Bey to learn about the healing properties therein, but also inspired her to create a honey farm that would aid in the well-being of herself and her children. “I’ve even got hives on [top of] my roof!” she added in the chat.
“I’m so happy that my daughters receive examples of those [positive] rituals from me,” she also revealed. This is not the first time that Beyoncé has put her stamp on the cannabis industry. Last year, her BeyGood Foundation partnered up with the NAACP to give to the Maryland-based cannabis company The Gift a grant for $10,000 intended to support Black-owned businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
And while this is Beyoncé first cannabis venture of her own, it isn’t the first in the Carter-Knowles family. Her husband, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, recently launched his own brand: Monogram, which is a cannabis and lifestyle company owned by TPCO Holding Corp and has a huge metric of success, with artists like Chika and Curren$y on board as brand ambassadors.
Jay-Z’s involvement in the new cannabis company, formed through a partnership between Caliva, Left Coast Ventures, Subversive Capital Acquisition Corp., and Roc Nation, is dubbed “The Parent Company,” and is expected to become the largest in California.
Carter’s involvement as Chief Visionary Officer will enable the billionaire MC to take a proactive approach to social equity.
