West Hollywood, CA (October 1, 2020)-Aeon Botanika founder Nicole Fox, MPH, RD, a social entrepreneur, licensed healthcare professional, seasoned cannabis activist and legacy pioneer in the LA medical cannabis scene with almost 20 years of experience, celebrated the official start of construction yesterday with a small groundbreaking ceremony attended by West Hollywood’s Honorable Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath and other community stakeholders.
In 2019, Aeon Botanika announced plans to introduce its flagship store in West Hollywood. In addition to being 1 of only 5 businesses initially granted both retail and lounge licenses from the City of West Hollywood, the company also has plans for both an integrative wellness center and sidewalk café.
“Aeon Botanika is exactly the type of creative, integrated business that the City of West Hollywood envisioned in our competitive process to welcome cannabis companies to our community,” said Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath. “I couldn’t be more excited to see this female-forward business, which includes a wellness center AND café, break ground and plant roots in our City. Nicole and her team are making history and shaping culture, and what better place to do that than West Hollywood.”
The groundbreaking ceremony attendees included Aeon Botanika’s Nicole Fox as well as her co-founders; Veena Parekh and Chad Jones, West Hollywood’s Honorable Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath, John Leonard (West Hollywood’s Community and Legislative Affairs Manager), and Genevieve Morrill (President/CEO, West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce). The team kicked off construction on the retail and lounge space for its first phase with plans to open in early 2021. Located at 8448 Santa Monica Boulevard, the completed first buildout will be 3,645 square feet. The second phase of construction will begin later in 2021 and includes plans for a café and integrative wellness center.
Aeon Botanika’s retail space will curate a collection of products that help customers live healthier, happier lifestyles. Their product selection favors minority and women-owned businesses, and companies that hold themselves to the highest standards in ethical and sustainability practices. Inspired by the Conscious Capitalism framework, the team aims to change the narrative around cannabis, wellness and social transformation.
“We are excited to be opening our flagship in the City of West Hollywood, a community that is welcoming of all people – inclusive community is also a core part of Aeon Botanika’s mission. I have spent my career as a health professional helping people integrate cannabis into a holistic wellness practice for a healthy lifestyle, and am grateful to the City of West Hollywood for always supporting the movement to end the prohibition of this healing plant,” shares Nicole Fox, MPH, RD, Founder/CEO, Aeon Botanika.
